Jana Erbes is a game designer and filmmaker driven by a deep passion for horror and its emotional impact. Growing up in theater, she was drawn to storytelling, which led her to study film before finding her true calling in escape rooms. She approaches horror with a strong narrative and empathetic design, creating experiences that go beyond fear to engage players on a personal level.
As a freelance designer, and former creative lead at escape stories Wuppertal she has contributed to some of Germany’s top horror escape rooms, acclaimed for their immersive storytelling and psychological depth.
Her documentary Escape Room Horror Stories: Benelux Edition, which won the ReAction Award, further explores the artistry and emotional power of horror escape rooms. Through her work, Erbes continues to redefine the genre, proving that fear and empathy can go hand in hand, making horror more accessible to a broader audience.

Luckily, we have secured a second, smaller block of rooms at Le St-Martin Hôtel & Suites. This is a 5-minute drive away from the RECON venue. If you missed out on the original room block, Le St-Martin Hôtel & Suites is our choice among the many hotels in the area. They are providing a special RECON rate of $209 CAD per night (plus taxes) that includes breakfast, wifi, and parking.

You can also call the Reservations Manager Kayla’s direct line (450) 902-3007 and mention the Room Escape Artist group. If you are looking to extend your stay longer than 3 days, call Kayla, and she will honor the group rate if possible, depending on the dates of your stay.
Note that even if you stay off-site, you can park at The Sheraton Laval Hotel for free.
