Food Lesson
Poutine – french fries and cheese curds topped with gravy and often with the option of additional toppings, like bacon or even foie gras.
Smoked meat – somewhere between pastrami and corned beef, and perhaps better than either.
Montreal-style bagels – a different style of bagel than you find in New York, but equally delicious in their own way. Get a fresh hot sesame for an optimal Montreal bagel experience.
Border Practicalities
- Documents: Visitors must have a passport to enter Canada.
- Language: Laval is highly bilingual, with a significant number of English speakers.
- Money: The currency is the Canadian dollar ($1 CAD is currently approx $0.71 USD). You generally only need Canadian cash for small shops or market stalls.
- Credit Cards: Remember to notify your credit card company before traveling. Check your cards in advance to find one that does not charge foreign exchange fees.
- Tech: Electrical outlets are the same type as in the US. Check with your cell carrier beforehand to understand any roaming fees.
- Pro Tip: Use the ArriveCAN App to speed up your border crossing!
Non-Escape Room Sights
Laval and the surrounding area have so much to offer, extend your trip and explore!
- The Cosmodome: A small space science museum near the venue.
- Sial Boutique MMC / Boutique PMUFX: An amazing supply shop for special effects (mold making, casting, ceramics).
- Montreal Old Town and Old Port: A dynamic quarter with cathedrals, museums, and an observation wheel.
- Old Terrebonne: Visit historical buildings on Île-des-Moulins or the Rivière des Mille-Îles park.
Transportation
Flying: If you fly into Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Uber is the fastest way to travel between the airport, the Sheraton Laval Hotel, and the escape rooms in Laval.
Renting a Car: If you plan to play escape rooms outside of the immediate area, a rental car is recommended.
⚠️ Driving Across the Border?
Do not bring any of the following: fresh fruits/vegetables, radar detectors, knives larger than a small Swiss Army Knife, weapons/guns, pepper spray, alcohol, or marijuana.

Nearby
The best local rooms are in the suburbs of Laval, Boisbriand, and Blainville. We also recommend Sauve Qui Peut in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (1 hour southeast).
Going Further?
- Québec City: ~3 hours away by car or train. Adorable city with excellent games.
- Toronto: 5.5 hours away. Gorgeous sets and unique actor interactions.
- Kingston, ON: Halfway to Toronto! Stop at Improbable Escapes for great games and a board game cafe. We recommend their games, Neverland: Heist on the High Seas, The Mysterious Miseries of Franklin N. Stein, and Seven Dwarfs: Mining Mission.
